Meet Alene
Can you tell us about your experience with chronic illness and migraine?I experienced debilitating migraines since childhood that would often land me in the emergency room. I was on a rainbow of medications and still not feeling the relief that I wanted. That’s when I decided to play a more active role in my healing. I began changing my diet, I started using essential oils and making healthy lifestyle habits a part of my daily routine. In time, the migraines became less frequent and less debilitating. Now I can say that I don’t live in fear of when the next migraine will strike. This process felt like it gave me my life back from migraines.
What do you do for a living?
I turned my pain into my passion! I became a certified nutrition coach to support individuals living with migraines and autoimmune disease use diet, lifestyle and essential oils to best manage their health. I work with individuals around the world via phone and video chat and it’s been the most rewarding experience. To be able to help another person with migraine experience relief and get back to living their life is everything to me.
What inspired you to go down this path?
Seeing how much diet and lifestyle improved my migraines, I knew I needed to help get the message out. The more I realized that it wasn’t a topic discussed in the majority of doctor’s appointments, I felt like I needed to help be the voice for it. My goal is not to convince anyone to do something they don’t want to do, rather, it’s to be a resource and coach for individuals who do want to take a more active and integrative approach in their healing.
What can people expect to see from you over the next few months?
A lot! I have so many new programs in store for 2020, including an online group coaching program. It will walk individuals through the process in which I took to heal myself, provide deliciously healthy (and easy to make) recipes and provide an uplifting community of people who want to be in a supportive environment.
What piece of advice can you give for others living with migraine?
You have an important role in your healing process. There is definitely a place in this world for medicine, and we should embrace it when needed, however, we play an equally important role through diet and lifestyle. Your body wants to heal. So, let’s support it with the fuel, rest and resources it needs to heal. You can take it slow if you need to, but starting and staying consistent are the most important steps.
